The shoots of a green economy are growing stronger, with fledgling businesses offering a wide variety of environmentally friendly products.

The search for individuals, organisations, governments and private enterprises that have demonstrated leadership in preparing for, responding to, and reducing the environmental impacts of disasters and conflicts has begun with the launching of the 2nd biennial Green Star Awards. Nominations are being received until November 30 with the awards ceremony taking place in May 2011.

A notice published in the Official Gazette said the estimated $80 million redevelopment of the West End resort would include 120 one, two and three bedroom dwellings for residential or tourism related use, in addition to 69 new hotel units.
