An Evening of Food and Wine at Bolero
Greenrock Dinner and Silent Auction a Success!
We are pleased to report that Greenrock raised close to $12,000 at the Bolero Fundraising Dinner and Silent Auction on April 24th. These funds will go towards Greenrock’s ‘Changing the Mindset’ account. But just as importantly, everyone who attended had a wonderful evening, making new friends and celebrating Greenrock’s achievements in the community.
Dinner guests enjoyed bidding for one or
more of the tremendously vied for silent auction items, including: a
two-hour cruise on the majestic Spirit of Bermuda, an AquaMaker Dehumidifier Water Cooler, a private half-hour concert by Heather Nova, a two-hour cocktail cruise on the Bravo Zulu, a one-and-a-half-hour afternoon sailing trip on the classic 72' Bermudian schooner Rock Steady, and a limited edition print, “Sail Away”.
Thank you again to those who donated silent auction items: Bermuda
Sloop Foundation, Travis Burland, Clearwater, Heather Nova, RenRe,
Libby and Loris Toppan-Cook. And thank you as well to those who
generously bid for the auction items.
Bolero’s food impressed all. We dined on shellfish “pot au feu”, duck
confit and salade lyonnaise with truffle oil, baked halibut or roast
saddle of organic welsh lamb, and, for dessert, sticky pudding with
fruit. Congratulations to chef Jonny Roberts for a spectacular meal,
and to all the staff for their exceptional service.
The evening commenced with a glass of champagne and, with extreme
gratitude to John Sharpe of New World Wines, moved on to Merry Edwards
Sauvignon Blanc Russian River Valley 2006, Deerfield Ranch Syrah Ladi
2002, Bertagna Vougeot Clos de la Perriere Premier Cru 2002, and,
accompanying dessert, Les Vegnerons de Maury Solera #890 1928.
Former Greenrock President Erin Moran received a well-deserved speech
of gratitude for her hard work not only in forming Greenrock but in
carrying it to the level of success we’ve reached today. Truly, Erin
has a special talent for bringing people together and for motivating us
all to make meaningful change in all facets of our lives. She is sorely
missed by all in Greenrock, though we wish her all the success in the
world as she pursues her studies overseas.
Heather Nova was also thanked for her generous donation of support and
time in putting together last year’s Festival of Music in the Arboretum
Park. We are extremely grateful to Heather for lending her considerable
talent, introducing us to her musical friends, and truly supporting
Greenrock’s movement in Bermuda. Both Erin and Heather received framed
limited-edition Heather Nova and Friends Concert posters.
At the end of the evening, dinner guests took home lovely potted herbs
in order to hold on to the scent of the evening. Thank you to Sousa’s
Landscaping for providing the wonderfully fitting favours. As well, our
thanks to Just Roses for lending us vases so we could use wild local
flowers and greenery for centerpieces on the tables, and to Frameworks
for lending us the easels to display the auction items.
