Mark Booth Occupation?
I returned to the island last year after spending a long period in the US completing a PhD in engineering. Since my return, I've taken up a senior modeling analyst position at a local reinsurance company. My daily work entails using various computer models to estimate damage from large catastrophic storms or earthquakes. Outside of work, I enjoy running, squash and golf.

What motivates you to get out of bed in the mornings?
I want to be able to learn something every day. This may be solving problems during work or rediscovering something again through my children's eyes.

What would you like to see change in your lifetime?
I would like people to develop a better awareness of self and their personal impact on others and the environment.

Why should we care about Bermuda's development?
There needs to be careful consideration of short-term gain versus the long-term impact of development projects in Bermuda. Sustainable development seeks to strike a balance between the environmental, social, and economic impact of projects to avoid irreversible damage and protect future generations. In a small island like Bermuda, the impact of poor decision making will certainly be felt in our own lifetimes.
