it a problem. posted by Nicole Stovell2009-04-04 - 04:35:35 Earth Hour was the bomb! My parents and I did it. Disappointing that few of neighbours seemed to. Hmm. How can we encourage them next year? I think we should have small community events every year for Earth Hour....at school halls for eg. We could play games and have a short nfo. session about Earth Hour/global warming. posted by twalters2009-03-31 - 12:25:08 Wine anyone? We invited all our neighbours around for some cheese and wine and celebrated Earth Hour under the warm glow of candles and a hurricane lantern.
All around us we could see homes in darkness and couldn't help but smile that people in Fairylands at least, were participating in Earth Hour. In fact, we had so much fun, we just kept the power off from 8.30 p.m until almost midnight. posted by lorissaw2009-03-31 - 04:46:01 Success! I was fortunate enough to attend Greenrock's Earth Hour fundraising event at Newstead. At 8:30 all the unnecessary power was turned off and the whole patio was lit up by candle light...beautiful sight! We also had a perfect view of Hamilton across the Harbour. It was great to see all those that participated, but frustrating to see those that did not. Hopefully next year there will be even more participants. But all in all, I think Earth Hour was a success in Bermuda! posted by threedees2009-03-28 - 18:46:09 When 8:30 rolled around, we shut down the computers, and then flipped every circuit breaker off. No power at all. Then we grabbed a flashlight and went for a stroll on a darkened hillside. It was a gorgeous evening temp, Orion was easy to see, the crescent moon was a sight to behold, and then, we saw a shooting star - and it split into 2 parts just as it burned up!
About 30 minutes later we were back home and a laptop running on battery power was providing music. Then just after the appointed hour, we turned each circuit breaker back, re-entered the land of light. But for one brief hour, our electricity meter did not budge! posted by natalie_roberts2009-03-28 - 17:52:07 Just completed the Earth Hour and was a little disappointed in various neighbours in the neighbourhood who did not! So we are doing an extra hour for them! posted by cherianyit2009-03-28 - 13:15:36 Global warming is terrible posted by schandler2009-03-16 - 15:53:26 BHS Earth Hour Assembly posted by AndrewV2009-03-16 - 10:06:00 BHS Thank You for EH09 Presentation posted by allie2009-02-14 - 03:27:50 Games night I'm planning a family board game night for Earth Hour.
